This is another textile piece in my ‘Interactive’ series because it invites the viewer to touch the work through the opportunity to open the screen door. Nonetheless, I find fabric, threads and yarns to be so tactile…just observe people in a fabric shop. They love to touch everything. So I decided to make that human tendency more obvious through my work by inviting them to touch deliberately.
The title of the work is about a moment in time about 10 years ago when I was staying in The Whiteshell. I arrived at my cabin to the sight of a Luna Moth on the screen door. What a stunning moment of awe it was for me! It is a moment which perpetually loops in my mind! This fabric art is the exact memory I have of that moment.
